Over the last couple of weeks, my humanities class and I, myself have been constantly working on a project we call, ‘The Mask Project.’ Our content is focused around the Cycle of Socialization, and the different ways we’re identified by simply how we've been socialized. The main idea for us is to showcase our learning from the essays we wrote and handcrafted masks painted with symbols that represent societal pressures, or in other cases, a fake identity we wear to be able to ‘fit’ in.
The problem we hope to address from this exhibition is the stereotypes we face, and the different ways we’re socialized. We ask, ‘How can we change?’ by breaking the imbedded cycle we conscious or subconsciously conform to.
Other than that, I'm excited for our exhibition because the role in it that I hope to have, is design. I've always been strong suited in design, whether she its artistic or more of a formal plan.
Overall, working along with my classmates in a group will later on help me move forward with new groups to be patient, and more hardworking.
